Friedman Kaplan Promotes Elizabeth Bierut to Partner

January 13, 2025

Friedman Kaplan proudly announces that litigator Elizabeth Bierut has become a partner of the firm. “Liz has consistently demonstrated extraordinary advocacy and skill on behalf of our clients. Beyond her impressive abilities as a litigator, Liz’s integrity, care for our clients’ experience, and commitment to building relationships both outside the firm and with her colleagues here make her an outstanding addition to our partnership. She is a tireless ambassador for the firm, and we are tremendously excited to have her as a partner,” said Management Committee member Jeffrey Wang.

Liz has a broad-based litigation practice in which she represents clients in a variety of complex business disputes as well as in investigations. With an active practice in both New York and New Jersey, Liz’s clients span multiple industries, including pharmaceuticals, fintech, professional services, and finance. Her recent notable work includes being part of a team representing a group of lenders holding over $600 million of first-lien debt in the closely watched Serta bankruptcy case challenging the validity and legality of the company’s uptier transaction with another group of lenders, and representing a client in connection with a business dispute that culminated in a seven-day arbitration hearing.

In addition to her dedication to clients, Liz is an enthusiastic contributor within the broader New York and New Jersey legal community. She is a member of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and the National Association of Women Lawyers, for which she formerly co-chaired the Next Level affinity group supporting career growth for in-house and outside counsel. Liz was also a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2022 class of Fellows, a program designed to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Liz previously taught legal writing as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Fordham University School of Law, where she also has presented on client service and diversity, equity, and inclusion topics in connection with programs aimed at early career attorneys.

Prior to joining Friedman Kaplan in 2020, Liz practiced at Ropes & Gray LLP and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Shira A. Scheindlin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She graduated magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law and received her undergraduate degree, with honors, from Swarthmore College.
