Mary Mulligan to Teach Seminar on White Collar Crime and Securities Fraud at Penn Law School
Starting in the Fall of 2015, Friedman Kaplan partner Mary Mulligan will begin a Lecturer in Law position with the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where, in conjunction with The Honorable Cheryl Ann Krause of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, she will draw upon her nearly 25 years of experience in white collar criminal prosecution and defense to teach a seminar entitled "Crossing the Line: White Collar Crime and Securities Fraud."
The course explores the hot-button issues of the day in white collar crime and securities fraud cases and the recent judicial decisions that have upended the enforcement and regulatory landscape. It provides an overview of the range of federal statutes that define individual and corporate crimes, and provides students with an understanding of how federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies investigate white collar criminal matters and the vast range of investigative tools at their disposal. In addition, the course explores charging decisions, plea negotiations, and sentencings in white collar crime cases.
