Ian Bruckner represents public and private companies as well as individuals in the financial services and other industries in a range of complex litigation matters, including those involving allegations of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfer, and business torts. 

Prior to joining Friedman Kaplan, Ian served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sanket Bulsara of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and was an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, where he represented clients in a variety of complex commercial litigation and white collar matters.

Representative Matters

  • Representation of a large proprietary trading firm in defense of a breach of contract claim brought in connection with a private investment in public equity (PIPE) commitment pursuant to a subscription agreement entered into with a SPAC.
  • Representation of a specialty financing company and members of its board of managers in defense of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraudulent transfer claims brought by unitholders of a recently acquired subsidiary who, among other things, allege liability based on an "alter ego" theory.
  • Representation of a California-based international financial institution in defense of various claims brought by a plaintiff who alleges he was defrauded by account holders.
  • Representation of a law firm and certain of its partners in defense of legal malpractice, fraudulent transfer, and related claims brought in New York State Supreme Court.
